||There are plans for this site to become a hard corner. On August 16, 2012, the Town of Mt. Pleasant formerly announced plans for the relocation of Long Point Road to form a new intersection at Hwy. 17 North and Old Georgetown Road near Christ Church. The relocation of this intersection allows for the future extension and access to the propose Town and Charleston County Parks and Recreation site (Hamlin Tract, and potential future interconnectivity with Rifle Range Road. The Six Mile Road intersection is located approx. 1,300 feet to the south. Long Point Road to consist of an 11-foot through lane, dual left turn lanes, a separate right turn lane and 4-foot bike lanes on each side of Long Point Road. The Old Georgetown section to include and 11-foot though lane, right turn lane, and left turn lane. The improvements will also include curb and gutter along the new section of Long Point Road and connect to the curb, gutter and sidewalks constructed with the US 17 improvements. The traffic signal will be relocated to the new intersection location, providing FULL movement between Long Point Road and Old Georgetown Road.
